She had to be brave.

Scene: Juliet was being watched by my friend. I got a text message from her. Juliet told her a story and it went like this.

Juliet:(this should be read in a dramatic but serious 4 year old voice) My mom and dad were killed, my brother was killed. My dogs were killed. I was all alone. So I had to be brave. And I went and killed those people. The killers who killed my family. And then I had to go home and went to sleep and got up in the morning and had breakfast.

I like your shoes.

Scene: This morning while getting ready to take my son to school.

Me: Oh, Juliet I love your shoes.
J:Thanks!
Me: But, um, Juliet why didn't you put on matching shoes?
J: (Looks up at me like there is nothing to be done about it) I couldn't find the other shoes.

Now can YOU find the other matching shoe?

His Snorkle?

This is out of Juliet's work book.

Scene: We were working on "what is missing". Before we got started I explained missing to her. She seem to get it so we went on to the book.... and then this happened.

Me: Juliet what is missing from one of the lions?

J: (takes a very long look) Umm.............umm...... uuuuummmmmmmmm...

Me: Is one of the Lions different from the others?

J: that one! (She points to number 4)

Me: Really? How is it different?

J: It is missing a tube?

Me: (in my head WHAT THE HELL?) Umm... no I don't think so. Look at all the lions. Which one is different

J: um........ uuuuummmmm............

Me: okay so lets do this. (then we go through each body part and try and find one that is missing something and the very last part I say is the tail) Do they all have tails?

J: Yes.

Me: Really? Even this one (pointing to number 3)

J: Yes.

Me: Really?

J: Yes. It's behind him (and then looks at me like I am an idiot)

Me: no Juliet it isn't behind him

J: oh.... (still thinks I am stupid)

Me: Juliet so what Lion is different?

J: That one (she points to number three THANK THE GODS!!!)

Me: YES!!!! What is he missing?!

J: His snorkel...

Me: What the hell are you talking about?

J: His snorkel. He is missing a snorkel!

Me: HIS TAIL!!!!! HE IS MISSING HIS TAIL!!!!!!!

J: Oh (and then does her oh giggle thing that she does)

She will be alright.

I can only imagine what people must think of me and this blog. But really Juliet is the light and joy in our lives and I figure that she has the most intense imagination that she sees things so differently from most people we just can't follow along with her. I really do not think that she is stupid at all. I think that her mind is going and going and going so much that she just cannot focus on what is going on around her. While I am asking a simple question like is the lion missing his tail she has looked at the picture and already decided that no his tail is simply behind him because he was getting ready to go swimming in some water he sees and is worried about where he misplaced his snorkel.
She is so full of happiness one time as she was leaping through a pumpkin patch somebody saw her and commented she is just happiness, glitter and rainbows isn't she? Yes, yes she is.
That being said I know that I am not the perfect mother and I don't even try to be. I am what I am and I think my kids will survive me just fine. If anything they have their father and he is quite normal.
